Step 1

Please read through the Registration Process as there have been changes made since 2018!

Overview

The Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque has contracted with the AlBF for more than 25 years to sell and scan Admission Tickets to the Balloon Fiesta. By submitting your Registration, you are making a contract with Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque.  There are (15) Fiesta Events over 9 days. We discourage volunteers from working “back-to-back” events.

Positions Available

The two “Roles” available to members of our partner Organizations are Ticket Seller or Scanner. In general, high school students should register as Scanners.  Exceptions may be made if your Org. Advisor explicitly confirms a junior or senior is recommended to handle large amounts of cash.

Once your Organization has been Approved to register its members, you will be able to register under your Organization and request specific shifts on Step 3.  DO NOT register until you are certain you have arranged transportation to arrive at the Kiwanis Compound on time for your shift.

Directions and Where to Park

Take Balloon Fiesta Parkway West and at the bottom of the hill, turn left into Gate 1 or 2 to enter the East Parking Lot.  Walk through Gate 14 at the southwest corner of the East Parking Lot.  Look for the Kiwanis signs and report to the Kiwanis Compound to sign in.  Find your badge if you have not already received it.  Please keep your badge with your Driver’s License for the duration of the Fiesta – you must Scan In and Scan Out for each of your shifts in order for your Organization to receive credit for your time.

Please Note: Your requested schedule will not necessarily be your final schedule. You and your Org Advisor will receive an email confirming your final schedule.

If you are unable to fulfill your commitment to work the shift(s) assigned in the Confirmation Email message, YOU MUST NOTIFY YOUR ORG. ADVISOR,  no matter what time it is, and they must PROVIDE A SUBSTITUTE !

Organizations may be penalized if their volunteers do not attend their shifts or if they leave without their captain’s approval.

Morning Shifts

Plan to arrive no later than 3:30 AM.

Please keep your badge with your Driver’s License for the duration of the Fiesta – you must Scan In and Scan Out for each of your shifts in order for your Organization To receive credit for your time.

You may also have a hot drink and a snack before your work assignment begins. You may be re-assigned to work a different function as we deem necessary. We will provide transportation from the Kiwanis compound to your assigned work location.

Morning shifts usually end about 8:00 AM. However, you may not leave your assigned work location until dismissed by your Gate Director. Sellers must arrange their cash by denomination and their remaining tickets for “close out” by the Gate Captain for each gate. EVERYONE will report back to the Kiwanis Compound to sign out and be released. Remember that only your Gate Captain decides when the shift is complete. Remember to check in before each event and after each event at the Kiwanis Compound or your organization may not be paid for your work.
